Speaker Randomly Making Alert Sound

This has been happening for about a week now: any disturbance to my mouse, for example accidentally bumping into the table that it stands on, causes an alert sound to issue from the speaker (the kind of sound that would be made if someone had just replied to you when exchanging messages in real time over the internet). It's become really irritating. Can anyone suggest a solution please. Thanks.

 

Btw my PC runs on Windows 10.

 

Is the mouse somehow disconnecting and reconnecting? Check that the cable is securely connected to the computer. If it doesn't seem fully secure you can just barely squeeze the USB connector to tighten it up and then plug it back in.

Edit: Maybe even try a different USB port.

 

Thanks for that. I've just disconnected the mouse and plugged it into another port to see how that goes.

 

Windows 10:
Settings > System > Sound > Sound Control Panel > Sounds
Here, event sounds and schemes can be set...
