When playing music on my computer the speakers make it sound as if it were coming from an old record player. Tried a few setting under sound/speech and get no results. I've got a Logitech surround sound set up. I've also tried adjusting iTunes EQ but noting works. Is it possible all speakers were blown at once or is there a way to fix this? All input appreciated, thanks!

Does it sound bad on all volumes, low to high, if thats the case then i would generaly say its a blown speaker. Not sure if theres a way to repiar such a thing.

Did the noise just start or has it always been the same? If you have onboard sound, an audio card could help. I have Logitechs THX and they buzzed at times. Try another set of speakers if you can to narrow the problem down. You can also change where the plugs go to see if all channels are working.

Could be a connection problem. Sometimes a faulty or dirty volume control switch can cause noises like this. Another possible cause is the amplifier in the speakers. If it's gone bad (or was never good) it can also cause sound distortion. Or corrupt soundcard drivers. This happened to my editing pc just before I formatted it.
Can you try listening to something on headphones connected directly to the computer to eliminate a speaker problem ?

It could also be a problem with the soundcard jack gone wrong, I´ve had this problem and mostly the only solution is buying a new card unless you´re an electronic wiz and know your way weldering cards.
Also if it happened to be blown speakers, there are places that can repair this, I don´t know if it´s an easy thing to do at home or even if it´s possible, what I know is that the solution is not cheap and you should evaluate if it´s a better solution than buying a new set of speakers.
