I am running dual monitors in Windows Vista and am running into an issue. I would like to know if there is a way to, either do this within Windows or use a third party program, make programs, such as my browser, open on a specific monitor. For some reason it opens on my secondary monitor all of a sudden and then I have to move it to my primary. Thanks for any help.

Have you tried moving the browser window to your primary monitor and then closing it? Normally, an appplication window will open on the monitor on which it was last closed.

Are all applications opening on the secondary monitor?

No, not all applications are opening on the second monitor, just the browser. I have tried moving it to the primary and then closing it but it still keeps opening on the secondary. The problem with this is the monitors are two different sizes, so when trying to move it I run into issues.

    Can you elaborate on this?:
I don't understand how the difference in monitor size is an issue.

The secondary monitor is smaller. When it opens on the secondary monitor it maintains the sizing it had on the larger monitor. So the top of the window is not visible. That is primarily why I am wanting to be able to manage which applications open on which monitor.

    What browser are you using?

    This technique came from http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=151920:

Solution: step 1. Reduce the size of the FF window with the "Restore Down" button. (It is the small button in the top right corner of the fullscreen window. Its icon is like two overlapping windows.)

step 2. Move the small window to the correct screen. Close the FF window. (Do not make it full screen yet.)

step 3. Open FF. It should appear on the correct window. Maximize it to full screen. Close FF.

Now it remembers where to open. (At least on the machines I have seen so far.)

Key to the solution is that it seems that FF saves its previous position only if it is not set to full screen when you close FF.
