Is Win 7 linked to molasses in January?
This speed:( is reminiscent of dial up

You recently upgraded to Windows 7. Did you do any hardware upgrades?

So is it your internet connection that's running slow or the computer itself taking ages to boot or whatever? If it's the internet let's start by having a look at your line connection speed for which you will need your router manual. If you don't have it then tell us the router make and model.

Router is AT&T Uverse cable (?)
    Unit is Pace 3801 HGV
    WiFi is ASUS USB N53 802.11 a/b/g/n

Wi Fi was already connected when transistioning to Win 7

OK, sounds like it is an internet or WiFi connection problem rather than a problem with your Win 7. Left click the WiFi icon in the tray and right click your network SSID (in blue). Click Status and tell us what the speed is in Mbps.

It could also be a problem with your cable connection but I can't help with that.

If this is a small form factor desktop whose model you mentioned yesterday, when I searched, I discovered it came out in 2005.
How much RAM in this 10 year old computer? 10 year old hardware can be the problem.

Too much time elapsed to edit. I found the hardware in another thread of yours: HP dx5150 SFF
    http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,1838624,00.asp

Win 7 needs 4 GB of RAM to run decently.
My husband's netbook had 2 and it was very slow doing almost everything. I just swapped out the 2GB stick for a 4GB one in Decmber and it is a lot peppier.

It looks like it has one slot and that is filled with 256MB or 512MB or 1GB of DDR RAM.

That is probably the slowdown. I'm trying to determine the maximum that system will accept because 1GB on Win 7 will be painful.

    I found this
So, if you can still find DDR chips that aren't prohibitively expensive, up the memory to 4GB.

Well that's resolved the question of whether it's an internet connection or computer problem and puts the light squarely on the questions plodr has raised about your hardware, particularly how much RAM this oldish computer has.

    Maximum memory: 4096MB
    Slots:4 (2 banks of 2)

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.
    512MB
    DDR PC3200
    1GB
    DDR PC3200
    512MB
    DDR PC3200
    1GB
    DDR PC3200

I purchased 2X1GB DDR PC3200 chips (modules?) to replace the two 512 MB currently installed.
If I read correctly. this will bring to 4GB the mem, max for this antique

    Added 2GB, helped considerably.
Thinking of updating to a more modern system. Probably a clone. Found a shop that will build it, and I can furnish him with what I want in it.
Hadn't realized age of this unit until I found some old route maps on it of Egypt and an area called the Promised Land. They belonged to some fellow name of Moses.;)

Anyone wants to weigh in on what to include for this build, I welcome all input.

And thanks for help with speed problem:)

Here's what I ordered 9 mths ago from a custom builder. Specs are always moving on of course but it's been superb. You do need to go through what you use it for with the builder of course, and if was re-ordering today I'd go for Win 8.1. Win 7 is great yes, but 8.1 on my laptop is even better.

Without fear of sounding dumb (my past postings convey that thought already)
