Speed increase.

I have been using SuddenLink cable Internet for a while now.
Was paying for a 6MBs speed which was the fastest they had in my area, although I was consistantly getting 6.45 MBs.
Just check with SpeedTest from Speakeasy and got a surprise.
Hoping it isn't just a freak glitch in the system.

Last Result:
Download Speed: 10724 kbps (1340.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 865 kbps (108.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

 

That's only 1.3 MB/s if I did my math right.:confused

I have 3 choices where i live, for internet/cable. So the competition has been heated for about a year now. Only good can come out of this. Comcast, wide open west, and att/uverse are bombarding me with mail just about 3 times a week. I've had comcast in the past, and i'm now with Wide open west aka. WOW (lower prices). They have all just about doubled their download speeds over the last year or so. When i signed up with comcast 2 years ago, i had 6 mb internet. For that same package they are offering (up to) 15 mb now. same for WOW, i have 8mb currently but now they are offering 15mb. and both are offering home users up to 50 mb for a reasonable price.
I dont have much info regarding ATT, but I know that it can only be more beneficial having additional players in this market.

 

Got the word from my provider.
Increase is the result of a system upgrade in my area and is permanent.
Good news is that my cost monthly will not change.
Guess Christmas came a bit early this year.
