Hi, I have programmed a small utility to speed up the load of Adobe Photoshop, and submitted this freeware to MajorGeeks this morning. Why it is not published on MajorGeeks?

Is there someone who would like to help me test it?

    http://www.acropdf.com

Scroll down to the bottom to download "Photoshop SpeedUp v1.0".

Wait for your response. Thank you!

If you submitted this only this morning it's likely MA or CP who own this site are busy going throught the many submissions they get each day.. plus updating the main downloads site takes time.

They will in time look and test your app out as EVERY app is tested.

Im not sure we will be adding it, especially since you say "is there someone who wants to test it" leading me to believe this is untested, hence an alpha, something I dont recall seeing in the admin.

    Hi Admin,

I have only tested on Adobe Photoshop 5.0, 6.0 and 7.01 CS. Other versions are tested by my friends, and we chat a lot via MSN.

My Italian friend told me that there is no problem found on Adobe Photoshop 8 Suite. However, I have doubted he is running an Italian version of Microsoft Windows XP SP1 and Adobe Photoshop 8.

I wish this freeware app could be published on MajorGeeks, more and more people will benefit from this program, and feed back to me, new releases will be published in the near future.

I have published a similiar program on MajorGeeks some days ago, do you remember? PDF SpeedUp v1.32.

    Positive feedbacks, no bug found.

    Thank you for your consideration.

Major , I DLed and tested it,,,no bugs and does improve the load time I have tried on adobie 6 PS has uninstall options !!!

    I quote from DL page------

Make your Adobe Photoshop run faster!

Adobe Photoshop SpeedUp significantly decreases the time it takes to load Adobe Photoshop by disabling the plug-ins that you may not need. There are several options such as whether to load the Adobe fonts, load the presets, and set the memory usage. You may restore to the original settings at any time. Adobe Photoshop SpeedUp is freeware, works with Adobe Photoshop versions 3 through 8. Available interface

    PS:
Anyone using XP create a restore point before install if you have system restore turned off....Glenn

Tested it just now on PhotoshopCS and XP Pro

    Intel P4 2.4c
    Gigabyte 8IHXP
    512MB RDRAM
    GF4 4400ti
    Multiple HDs

works well or so I thought...

    1. on runnin it does however say at the start it detected more than one version of Photoshop it did however in the box have 8.0 listed which is correct but next menu box or install location of PS listed C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 6.0 ( yeah I know just change the location )

a quick registry search concluded what I knew already is that there is no locations to PS 6 plus no PS 6 folders in my Program Files folder.... I do however have other Adobe apps

a bug prehaps NO .. but could be confusing to some when installing as if you click ok the default location of PS is wrong and the app wont do its job.

    2. Possible bug, ran it first time removed all the plugin's apart from a few usefull ones ( see below for crude speed test ) ok works well, removed the optomizations... again worked well restored the plugins... re-booted to see if anything was to go flunky! NO... now came to run it again just to test selective plugin removal.... it doesnt remove any, tried removing all like the first run of the app again no removal of any plugins.

works first time but not second time.

    ---------------------

personally I would as a user of PS have no real need to use this as I have only the plugins that I need installed and the speedup was only a few seconds off my normal loading time with the normal plugins I have kept and 10 I have installed.

    Normal loading 10secs
    after speedup 8secs

Its up and a few other download sites who check in on us have now added it as well, hope it sends you some well deserved traffic. If bandwidth becomes a problem, let us know, we welcome download links and remove authors links if it becomes expensive for them. Its what we LIVE for :)

Where does it go after it's first use?
I mean, where's the location of the file?

It depends on where you DLoaded it to,,,as a rule pick your desktop as a download location,,this way its easily found,,If you can't locate it do a system search,,,Start>>>Search>>>Files and Folders,,,type the name of the downloaed file and search,,,once found click and drag the EXE. link to your desktop, this will create a start icon,, If you can not find it Just redownload the file,,,chances will show you where it went also !!!, If not , ReDload the program ,select desktop DL ,,,Hope this is helpfull...Glenn

Thank you for your generous offer. Right now, bandwidth isn't a big problem. If data transfer is too much for me, I will turn back to you.

Could you recommend a Super Mario game (PC version) for me? Thank you!

    Acro,
Can you make a speedup for Paint Shop Pro? I'm jealous!! :)
Thanks for making these nifty programs. Good luck to you!
Oh, BTW, you should enable Private Messages.

    Take care,
    Eric

    Hi Eric,

I don't believe Paint Shop Pro is inferior to Photoshop, it seems that I should make such a utility in the near future. Maybe ACDSee SpeedUp will also be on the way.

    Wait for good news.

BTW. I don't know how to enable Private Messages. C'est bien dommage ;)
