Speed Up Slow Slave Drive.?

    i'm running winXP pro is there any software to speed up a second hard drive.? or is it just a crappy drive.? not sure myself what exactly the spec's are for it so it very well could be, it's in a secondary computer that was given to me. when i copy over files from that drive to the main drive it takes Forever and to burn takes as long or longer (Very Long). Thanks for any help.
