speed

could someone plz just guide me in the right direction i currently have a 2meg connection with tiscali and my contract is up so have a chance to go elsewhere and the chance to go to 8mb now the question is i am getting a laptop for chrimbo and the nintendo wii hopefully,and want to be going online with them,i use my pc mostly for online games and browsing i do not download movies at all,will my 2mb support me playing online on with the wii and the pc at the same time and yes im wireless,im told by many people i do not need to go to 8mb please help thank you
