Whenever i turn off the SpeedFan Program, the fans in my computer go to maximum.
It's a really nice program to have so how can i fix this problem?
    OS:XP 2.7GHZ 769MB RAM

most likely the mobos monitoring chip reverts to default and sets the fan speeds to max again... if you like the app so much why are you turning it off?

I dunno, it just does not seem right.

Is there anyway i can stop this from happening when i close the application?
    Maybe something in the settings?

what did the fans sound like before you installed SpeedFan?

did you have any other monitoring software installed before SpeedFan... mobo manuafacturers software prehaps?

have you installed any new fans.. I notice your thread in hardware about using the molex connectors off the PSU to run a fan if its those fans then they do not have temp/speed senors and will run at full tilt.

I had Hmonitor installed before SpeedFan, as for the other thread, i am thinking of getting a new fan.
The fans make quite abit of noise and my parents will freak out and ask what that is.
Is is bad for the fans to be a maximum?

is it bad... well like all moving parts they will have a MTBF rate... but I have 2 front 80mm case fans that are at max rpm and they have been running for nearly 18months.

If SpeedFan is doing the job of keeping the fans quiet then keep on using it.... My mobo doesnt like SpeedFan so I cannot test it to see if it changes much in the way of noise from running the app to stopping it.

and if your thinking of adding fans to the molex psu connectors then they WILL make more noise... btw why do you want to add more fans.. do you have temp issue?

those are good stable temps and nothing to worry about.. sub 40c for CPU is good.

I think im going to buy 2x80mm just for the HDD.

thats a good idea to cool the HDs if they are located at the bottom front of the case... that is where my HD bays are and I do have 2x80mm quiet coolermaster fans in front of 4 HDs they are spaced with a HD width between them so airflow is not disrupted too much and they are only luke warm to the touch not hot... but I dont have any worries about noise even tho they are fairly quiet.

Should i place them at the back of the HDD's?
Or just in front of my case?

is there as fan anchor point behind the HDs? most cases have a front fan space ... some have a space for 2 one on top of other ... Coolermaster do on most of there range as seen in the third and forth pic http://www.cooltechzone.com/reviews/cases/cp_9.php the HDs sit behind the fans.

I can put the fans side by side.
    O could i do this?

    -HDD-
    FAN
    -HDD-

Could i put a fan in between the two hard drives?

    what case do you have?

something like this works well.... as the fans are nearly 3 times the height of a HD if you can install them dead center with the HD .. the fan has a small dead zone at the center where the core is.

    <<<<<<<<|
    -----HD------| Fan 1
    <<<<<<<<|
    <<<<<<<<|
    -----HD------| Fan 2
    <<<<<<<<|

crude diagram... but the airflow is shown with the <'s where airlow is restricted eg. dead zone ----

and by leaving a gap between the drives of about a drive hight, airflow can pass through to the rest of the system keeping the movement of air going and causing no dead zones where heat can get trapped.

I dont think i can fit 2x80MM fans in there.
    It's a tight spot.
