Speedfan temp always 102F

I have an HP pavilion zv5000
CPU Type- Intel Pentium 4, 3200 MHz (16 x 200)
Motherboard Name- Hewlett-Packard Pavilion zv5000 (PR443UA#ABA)
Motherboard Chipset- ATI Mobility Radeon 9100 IGP
System Memory- 896 MB
BIOS Type- Phoenix (12/15/04)

I decided to install speedfan b/c my laptop was getting so hot (129 F exiting against my leg). When I load speedfan on my previously shut down laptop, it starts at 102F and never strays. If I let it idle or when I'm running it at full throttle, the temp never changes on speedfan? Is this normal, I figure the temp should fluctuate, but its not? Using EVEREST Home Edition, my temp is reported at 111F.

 

Obviously SpeedFan isn't reading your temps correctly. This is fairly common actually.... I've run 4 different temp monitoring apps side by side: 2 of them reported the same temps, and the other 2 were totally different from all the others. I have no idea where the numbers were coming from, but they weren't even close! I have found PC Wizard's monitor to be pretty good, and HMonitor also.... if your BIOS has a Hardware Monitor option or a PC Health option, check that against the readings of your monitoring program for accuracy. Other than that, a laser thermometer is probably the only way to get accurate readings.
