Yeah, I was going to link you to the same article t.s.gun linked to above. I would be pretty impressed if you could get the CPU up to 3.0ghz. That would be about a 70% increase in speed. The overclock-ability of a CPU depends heavily (but not entirely) on the motherboard and the BIOS features available. Just be sure you have adequate cooling (the stock cooler is NOT adequate for most OC projects) and take it slow. Don't try to jump straight to 2.5 or 3.0. Do it in small increments and run a stability tester every so often to make sure all is kosher. I hear Prime95 is good for such things. It's a free download here http://www.majorgeeks.com/Prime95_d4363.html There are many other good tests you can run; running 3dMark03 or 05 or 06 in a loop is a good stress test too. Check the Diagnostics section http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=7 and the Benchmarking section http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads4.html and study the info in the Overclocking forum. Here are a few links to some overclocking guides:

...and this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's TONS of info out there for the intrepid overclocker, and you should read as much as possible so that you're very familiar with what's going to happen and what should be expected. Keep in mind, there is a very real risk of permanently damaging your components, so BE CAREFUL!

    Good luck!

What mother board do you have?

It's listed in the hardware report in the first thread.

@ iZver: You might want to think about just buying a faster CPU and going with a smaller OC instead of trying to really over work the current CPU. Maybe get a slightly less costly video card, add 1gb of RAM to the 1gb you already have, and get a faster CPU.... just I thought.... I was re-reading your post and this popped into my head ;)
