spinfire reader

I started my computer this evening, and see there is an icon on my desktop that is called "spinfire reader". I right clicked on the icon and went to properties, and it says it was created at 8:45 last night. I was already in bed then, and the computer was shut off.
I did a google search for this, and it seems it is some sort of 3d cad reader. Since I work as a mechanical engineer, I work with 3d models every day. But, I know as well as I'm sitting here that I did not install this.
Does anyone have any information on this, like where it may have come from, is it dangerous to my computer, etc.?

Right click the icon, select properties then "find target". If its an installed app it will take you to its directory in Progran Files. If its just an internet shortcut (like a link or advertisement) then it will have no directory so just delete the icon.

If its an actual program with a directory "now worry" do a full system scan with your anti-virus and spyware cleaners preferably from safe mode to have the best chance of catching any baddies sleeping.

 

it seems funny that it's a reader for 3d cad stuff, and you work with 3d cad stuff. anyway, are you sure that the date and time are correct on your comp? if it is a program shortcut and your not sure where it came from i'd run a complete scan of your comp (as mentioned). g/l, sos
