My dog recently chewed up the cable for my microphone headset. So I'm trying to splice it together to get it working.

The cord has 2 cables, one for sound and one for the mic. Inside the sound part it has 3 cables, red green and gold, I got those spliced together and I hear sound fine again. But I cant seem to get the microphone to work. There seems to be a plastic tube with copper wire, with more copper wire wound around it inside the cable.
I cut back the edges of the tubing, and spliced that together, and same with the copper wire threaded around it, but alas it doesnt seem to be doing much good. Cant seem to find any information about splicing microphone wires around either.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Ive tried a couple things, but I cant get any sound at all to come out of it, not even static, not sure what is wrong.

Have you tried checking the continuity of those 2 leads with a hi impedance ohmmeter to make sure they are, indeed reconnected? Also check for continuity between the 2 (at the mic end) to make sure you haven't shorted them.
Other than that, I'd say buy a new one.
