Spybot 1.3

Hi.is the new version of spybot still a resource hog?

I never noticed that it was hogging in previous versions. Now, I show a mem usage if abt 9MB, compared to 17 for Explorer.exe and a total of 25 for svchost.exe. My simple mail-checker uses almost 9, and it's open round the clock.

 

Hey Wiz, very nice to see your face around here If you recall, the first release of the "new" version of SpyBot had a fast controversey going on about the TeaTimer part of it. I installed that version and sure enough TeaTimer had a tendency to "keep on growing". About a week after the release, there was another version out (the one here on MG -- SpyBot 1.3 final ) that corrected that problem. But, the memories of the controversey still remain -- not the memory of the correction. I use TeaTimer 24/7 and it usually averages about 4.3 K to 1.8 K. Not a very big resource hog at all, I'd say.

Now I know what the worry was about.

I'd say that now, for the short period that I actually have to RUN it, Spybot is an economical utility worth several times its requirements. And it's not like anyone is actually going to try to do anything else while SB S&D is running. Let it do its thing, then get on with other stuff.
