SpyBot 1.6.3

    CatT I can't follow the rules

    my s/w updater tells me that SpyBot 1.6.3 is out. so do a lot of sites on google.

    the app itself does NOT reflect this, however. nor does their website -- still on 1.6.2 (jan 2009), with the beta being 2.0.4 b2.

    what, then, is 1.6.3? some kind of pirate app made in imitation?

    Spybot and other popular programs are often copied by rogue developers so it is possible. You can always check the official Spybot site and hopefully you know Majorgeeks is trustworthy and an official mirror of Spybot:

    1.6.2 is the latest official version. Not sure what your s\w updater is but I would delete that program immediately. I doubt you downloaded it from here. Spybot can check for updates for you. Also, get Malwarebytes and scan for an infection. Come back here if you need more help.

    Spybot 1.6.3 is the Corporate and Small Business edition, not the Free version.
