The current edition of Spybot (1.4) that I'm running does not store purged items in its "Recovery". It just deletes them without providing a backup. Has anyone else had this problem? I did install a new edition but the same thing is happening.

Within spybot, click the Mode pull down menu, then select advanced. Yes, for advanced.

Then on the left, click settings. On the right make sure the following are checked:

Create backups of fixed spyware problems for easy recovery
Create backups of removed usage tracks for easy recovery
Create backups of fixed system internal problems for easy recovery

They are all checked. Actually, I don't remember having to do this before as I've never gone into the advance mode. Thanks!

I assume you have tried uninstalling and re-installing, since if you installed 1.4 on top of the old one, it may have kept your older settings.

Yes I did. I'm surprised I'm the only one with this problem.

that dude apove probably meant you can clean the settings before new install.. at '\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy' after removing Spybot also remove that specific folder to make total clean before reinstall.

and there's an restore point being use of course in settings. I personally turn it off as soon installed.. so many softwares tried to do restore points these days which is totally unnessessary in my point of view.. Ofcourse it's an protection and own good.. Was my opinion..;)

Well, I guess I'm going to give up on this because nothing seems to fix the problem. I just uninstalled and deleted Spybot, including registry items and thru seaching files, reinstalled and the same thing happens. Hopefully it's no big deal if I can't restore something that Spybot has removed. If anyone thinks this could be a major issue, please let me know.

I just chatted with Spybot and they say if it's just Cookies that are purged, they don't go to recovery. News to me.

So, were cookies something that you wanted unpurged?

If so, then SB, is working fine. If it isn't cookies, then...

Thanks for the info, and replying back! :)

No, I didn't want to unpurge the items; just didn't no why they were not in the "Recovery" cache. Actually, I don't know whether the stuff I purged was cookies or not to be truthful. Next time I'll check to see what Google has on items I delete. Then I'll know if what SB is telling me is correct.
