Spybot Problem

After recently installing Spybot on my new XP Pro system, I'm getting the following error messge:

"This application has failed to start because framedyn.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem".

Once I hit click on the OK button, Spybot proceeds to open without further prompting and appears to run normally. I did uninstall and reinstall the program but this did not correct the problem. I do not remember getting this message initially. Any help would be appreciated.

 

There are several things we can do. We can search for the file. To do so, please do the following:

1. Hit windows key + F (or click Start --> Search)
2. Click 'All Files And Folders' (if applicable)
3. Ensure 'Local Hard Drives' is selected below 'Look In'
4. Type 'framedyn.dll' under 'All Or Part Of The Filename'
5. Hit enter (or click search)

Windows will now search all your harddrives for the file. If it is found, it may either be in the wrong location, or it may have corrupted. You can download a replacement of this file from this link.

You may also want to consider downloading Dependency Walker. This wonderful tool will profile any dll (as well as a wide variety of other filetypes) and show you every file that it calls, and what functions it expects these files to have. This way you can pinpoint the file causing your application to fail/error, and replace/upgrade it.

 

I found two files under search. Also, I downloaded from the site you suggested to obtain a new file, but am unable to open it.
