    Hi,
Each time I run Spybot S+D I get the following:
    1) Windows Security Center. AntiVirus Disable Notify
    2) " " " . Firewall " "
As I am new to WinXP I am I stop short of deleting these.
    Help would be appreciated here.

Specs: WinXPHome, McAfee Virus Scan, Processor AMD, RAM768MB,
    Firewall Windows.
Thank you for all help in the past. Boneyeye

    HI,
Sorry for the mistake, but i considered this a software prob. not a spyware. Just shows we are not all "geeks". Could someone move this to Spyware Specific if that is in order. My appologies again.

Actually, I've gotten the same things before in WinXP Service Pack 2. If you don't let Windows Security Center monitor your Antivirus or Firewall settings, Spybot may pick it up. So if you told Windows not to monitor those two, these two results may show up in Spybot. I think if you right click on each of the two results, you may be able to select "Ignore" or something similar which would stop those two from showing up again.

I could be wrong, but that's what I've done.

    Hi,
Just some more information on todays Spybot , in the breakdown tree it says the following:
    1) HKEY LOCAL MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\SecurityCenter\AntiVirusDisableNotify!=dword:0 and on the righthand side " Registry change"
2)Similiar Key but "Firewall" where "AntiVirus"is.

This gives me a hint that something in the Registry needs to be changed (which I can if advised) but would only do so on well informed advice as to what change Ishould make. TY all again. Boneyeye
    Also"noahawk" there is no"ignore" option when I RightClick B.

If you want Windows to monitor if your firewall and anti-virus have been recently updated, you have to get into the Windows Security Center. It's located in the Control Panel off of the Start Menu. If you're in classic mode, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, and then Security Center. If you're in the normal Windows XP start menu, it's slightly different. Then you'll probably have some buttons on the right about recommendations (or similar). Also the lights will be green if it is monitoring, so you'll have an idea of what needs to be changed.

If you want to keep things how they are, but have Spybot ignore the findings, if you right click on each result, there should be a choice of Exclude in future scans (or similar, but definately has the word Exclude in it). If you don't see it right away, you may need to click on the plus next to each result and then right click and look for exclude.

    Hope this helps

Does this occur with the box to the left as a plus or minus or both? If right clicking on the "Windows Security Center" entry doesn't work, click on the + to expand it and try right clicking on the one about the registry entry. Let me know how it goes.

Augiedoggie: You're welcome, and I was the same way until I right clicked on it too.

    Hi,
It occurred on both, but prob. was fixed on right clicking on the words "registry change" which was on the very end of and detached from both keys. So TY very much to all of you geeks who answered and had patience with me. Bye. Boneyeye
