Spybot S&D ?

Could someone here explain to me the "Immunization" feature in Spybot, what it is and how it works - the Help and Tutorial were no help -

Thanks Steve, I was concerned that it ran "real time", I've never used it and probably won't - but at least now I know how it works

 

Spybot provides protection on 3 levels:
The Tea Timer in Spybot is the resident real- time spyware protection.
The immunization inserts known malware sites into the host list, to prevent you from accidentally stumbling into them.
And the Spybot scanner finds quite a few nasties that some other popular freeware apps don't.
All in all it is a good protection app.

 

I wouldn't use the Immunize feature. I used it once before and it filled my hosts file with hundreds of entries and blocked some sites that I actually use. Took me a few days and a steep learning curve to figger it out, too.
But the rest of the Spybot S&D program performs great for me and is a useful tool.
My 2 cents, for what they're worth........

Steve - the site was Myspace.com - a commonly enough visited site, though it is known to be fraught with perils. Spybot S&D totally blocked any and all access.
Please do not mistake me for a wanton - it is my sweetie who insists upon the dual sins of Myspace and supreme time disrespect for what could have been productive time. When I tried to wean Sweetie onto another site, Sweetie only sneaked back to Myspace so, rather than compound the sins to three, I installed Noscript onto Firefox and upped some other settings - Sweetie complains that the videos won't run now, so it's a "my fault" issue - which makes our household seem back it's normal balance - with the fault-ball lodged firmly in my court. Loooove:drool... there's nothing really quite like it, is there?:cry

Don't use teatimer it's a resource hog.

Another thing that runs like the immunization feature is SpywareBlaster.
