Spybot

I removed a bit of spyware from wifes PC, and left 2 entries. Speed connect and aupdate. All was good. Rebooted, and a message that I needed to reinstall some stuff from my winXP install disc as some needed files were changed. I put back these 2 files=restored them from SpyBot, removed speed connect, and left the aupdate on, rebooted and all is fine. WTF is aupdate? Automatic win update service? thx Mind you, I didn`t have this problem on my gaming rig I just installed SpyBot on.

Adware or Spyware whatever discription you want I would remove it.

Also while you are at it get your self SpywareBlaster as it will help stop these pests being installed in the first place then use your Adaware or Spybot etc etc to remove any stragglers

but why the message that I need to use my winXP disk to replaced files that were changed? Hmmm Yes, I use Ad-Aware, and Spyware Blaster as well, thx. Ok, removed AUpdate. Thx for the info. Much appreciated.

Without me looking up info on that type of spyware I would imagine that the files that it infestated were also system files that were changed when this pest installed itself.. so when you remove the pest with your spy RAYGUN!! you will possibly need to replace them with the original files.

Never have used "Spybot" before so i cant give you any advice.
The only thing i can say is: STAY OFF THE PORN MAN!
And another thing, Ad-aware is my personal favorite, easy to use and it will not give you any trouble.

hehhhe This is my wifes PC I was installing SpyBot on. And my kids are usually around the PCs alot. So we don`t do the pron surfage thing. My wife is doing her M.B.A. at a University over the PC, and my little girl surfs on the same rig and isn`t yet aware how ugly clicking on just anything can get. God forbid if ANYTHING should go wrong, and my wife loses her stuff. She`d literally kill me. lol Thx all.
