I recently upgraded windows vista to windows 7 home premium. I bought the download version of spy sweeper with antivirus and uninstalled AGV.
When I try to update spy sweeper for the first time the update fails.
I went to there help site and followed their directions for allowing the the spy sweeper files to run through the fire wall but I still cannot update.

I also have a soon to expire Spyware Doctor on the computer but it is disabled. After I installed windows 7 it wouldn't update either.

Is there something I am missing?

Yes. You aren't using cleanup tools. Uninstalling security programs by just using add/remove leaves too many things in place that interferes with a clean install of another product.
You have remnants of AVG (you did not say what version) and Spyware Doctor, though disabled may have some active components working that you can not disable.

What clean up tools would you suggest?
