Spyware blockers?

Ok, question. Does SpywareGuard and SpywareStopper do the same thing? Both scan in realtime to prevent stuff from even being put on your pc at all... right? But one is free, the other, 19.99. I am leaning towards SpywareStopper, but if SpywareGuard does the same thing for free, should I just use it instead? thx

Use the free one, I use the free one and it works

Agreed with Endi, Javacool makes good stuff.

I like SpywareBlaster by the same folks.

I do stay pretty current I think. Am running Ad-Aware, SpyBot S&D, SpywareBlaster as well. But I am looking for something that doesn`t let any cookies etc thru unless I give specific consent. I was reading SpywareStoppers info and it says it does this. I installed SpywareGuard thinking it did the same thing, yet I used Ad-Aware right after to test SpywareGuard, and still some cookies got thru. Thinking I may try SpywareStopper too see how it does. Thx for your replies all.

If you looking for something that handles cookies why not try Cookiewall < http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/cookie.htm >, or something similar? If you looking for something a litlle more advanced there is always proxomitron < http://www.proxomitron.info/ > that can be used with a filter set like the one from JD5000 < http://www.jd5000.net/ >.

SpySweeper does a pretty good job in blocking cookies. Even the trial version which you can get here:

blocks them. You only get one free upgrade to the master definitions list with the trial but it does continue to work. I think you'll find that none of these spyware programs like Ad-Aware, SpyBot, and SpySweeper etc. are perfect. They all seem to find things the others don't. I typically wind up using a couple. I leave Spysweeper running to block cookies and changes to my home page. I run a full scan with it at least twice a week and then follow with SpyBot and Ad-Aware.
