Spyware Doctor problem

    Morning!
    Spyware doctor has become very disfunctional the last few weeks. If it scans, it will lock up the computer such that I have to power down. Then when restarted Spyware Doctor is disabled. I've un-& re-installed but problem returned.

    The current thread on best spyware shows Spyware Doctor not very well liked --- so would I be better off uninstalling & trying something else?

    I forgot to get the versions of below but I keep everything updated
    Windows XP
    CCleaner
    A-squared Free
    Spyware Blaster
    Commodo Firewall Pro - does not like Spyware Doctor anymore
    Advanced System Care (recently downloaded - it was free! probably overkill!)

    Do you wish to keep it? Is it a trial or paid for? I assume it's paid for, if just a useless trial that wont fix what it finds anyway then get rid of it. If it's paid for and you wish to keep it then look out for more replies/responses here.

    I can tell you that A Squared is software I took off my own machines a long time ago, it's too prone to False Positives, and Malware Bytes and SUPERantispyware are by far much more effective.

    Hope you've got Anti Virus installed :) Didn't see it in your list there.

    Oops forgot, Avira Personal Edition.

    It is a paid version but if it's non-functional and lots of time is spent "fixing" problems, then it may be time to move on to another program.

    Well it's not software I would use personally, but that's no reason to abandon it for something else if you don't really want to, especially since you paid for it :(

    See what others have to say. I take it no other scanners you use crash mid way thru? This just happens with Spyware Doctor?
