I recently installed the full version of Spyware Doctor and it did pick up a few thing the only problem i have is if i let it run On Guard it slowed the computer down soooo much you think you have a virus but its not so.

i just wondered if anyone else had the same results???

if you unload On Guard it takes a long time to reload Spyware Doctor i think it unloads everything???

    Hi Bill

What other security apps do you have as OnGuard being realtime scanning may interfear with another of your realtime scanners? ( same as dont have 2 AVs or FWs )

could run ProcessExplorer to see whats hogging CPU cycles, should give a clue.

Hey Bill, this is common issue for Spyware Doctor. You are not the first nor be the last for complaining about this problem. That is why I use SD only like resident scaner.I use SD4 (still),cos I thought that this hoging will stop in SD5,but it didn't stop.

I seem to have solved the problem(to many antispy apps) i am a bit paranoid as i have been infected three times in one year 2 by e-mail and one my fault for going to a bad site (p2p not porn) i have unloaded Spy/doc also Nod32 and A2 squared i did it one by one then a test it look as though it was Nod32 as soon as it was gone my E-mail went back to full speed and Internet too.
thank for the input, it just shows you can have too much of a good thing.http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/aktion/action-smiley-033.gif

Bill, what Antivirus do you have installed now if you removed NOD32? Spyware Doctor is not Antivirus, you need an antivirus app installed.

Likely OnGuard is the issue here as Gorans link suggests, so I would disable OnGuard until they get it fixed.

A2 Free, will be ok as ist complimentry to all AVs as in the free version if thats what you have its on demand scanner so wont slow your PC down ( ok it may when you initiate a scan )

Ah ok, I see..... Even if you have two AVs installed and one is not running resident, it can cause issues.. which is why its best to only have one installed at once ( some AVs can see the others DAT database of virii as a nasty )

As you rightly say Bill, we can go over the top and have too much security, they then trip over each other and can give false positive alerts.

If your wanting one of the best and paid for AVs then my choice would be NOD32, for free it would be AVAST ( works for me ).

thanks for the heads up Halo i will see if i can get a CD version of NOD32 from my PC Center they have a limited amount of software as the favorite way here in Belgium is P2P but to be fair we do not have the outlets here that you have in UK or USA. http://www.my-smileys.de/smileys3/00000025annie.gif
