Spyware help needed.

Have an older gateway pent3, with a botched upgrade on it that is working about 40%. I suspected spyware and ran the newest Norton AV 2005 on it, the newest version of AdAware SE Pro V1.05, and the latest update of SpyBot 1.3. Strangest thing. NAV was clean, AAW picked up 318 hits, but each time I run SB1.3, it hangs the system up about 30% into the scan. I tried it in Safe mode, same thing. I ran HiJack this, but unfortunately Have no way to transfer the log from the problem PC to a good one. Any suggestions.

 

Can't you save the log and put it on a Floppy?

Sure - As long as the below instructions are followed

Your HijackThis should be up-to-date (v1.98.2) and MUST be extracted to its own safe folder - C:\Program Files\HijackThis!

Please attach your log via the "Manage Attachments" tool in the Additional Options section when you post.

I am cutting out for a while, but somebody will take a look.

OK, here goes. D/L ed the new versio of HJT, put it in the C:\Program|Hijackthis, and asked for a scan. Immediately got a pane telling me of an error.

An unexpected error has occurred at procedure: modRegistry_IniGetString(sFile=win.ini, sSection=windows, sValue=load)
Error #5 - Invalid procedure call or argument

Please email me at merijn@spywareinfo.com, reporting the following:
* What you were doing when the error occurred
* How you can reproduce the error
* A complete HijackThis scan log, if possible
