Which are the best?

All of the above are free to use for scanning and removal pruposes (and they do a GREAT job). They also have paid full versions for real-time protection in addition to the scanning and removal.

 

A-Squared had a bad habit of declaring legit programs in other languages malware just a couple of years back. Quite a problem if ones OS is not in English. Don't know if this is still the case?

No single scanner/remover gets everything every time.

Very true, nothing is 100%. The best protection is smart surfing.
For real time protection, I also recommend AntiVir by Avira. I've been using it for years and it's awesome. By far my favorite free AV.

Well, I can't say it's my favorite because I only recently started using it, but I've been running the scanner that comes with COMODO firewall. Anyone tried that one?

 

Above dlb mentions Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. This scanner is gaining reputation very, very fast. And with good reason. It really is a highly remarkable newcomer on the marked. It might the best of them all...
