Spyware or network problem?

I am not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but I am pretty sure the problem is spyware, and I figure this would be the best place to post. I also want to appologize about the lenghty post.

I control our home network, and just about every day one of my room mates comes to me and says that his internet quit working, or its going slow, or who knows what else, and now he is threatening to have me refund his money, because I can't keep his connnection going. I don't have, nor do I want access to his computer (because I do not have the appropriate Hazmat certifications to touch it).

Here's how I have it set up. I have a Qwest modem, and someone else's wireless internet through a gaming adapter. Both of those go into a dual wan router, and then I have two LAN connections set up to connect through the wireless connection only, and then a third LAN connection from another router that everyone else uses that goes through Qwest. My room mate is one of the ones that goes through the wireless connection, and I set one of my computers up to go through it as well, just to test it out.

I have him set up one the wireless by himself, because I have a strong hunch that he uses a file sharing program to dl stuff, and I don't want him to be hogging all of the bandwidth from the rest of us.

I have spent the last week or so working on the network at least once a day because he thinks it's the networks problem that his connection is so bad. He has even 'helped fix' the problem because I was asleep. (he ended up plugging routers into themselves, and essentially disconnecting the internet completely for everyone). I have had no problems with the internet using either one of my computers, and going through either the wireless connection, or Qwest. My other two room mates haven't complained of internet problems either.

I am begining to think that he has some major spyware/adware/internet hogging programs on his computer. My first guess is the file sharing that I think he does, because I cannot think of too many programs that will let you download stuff that's not full of spyware or adware. My second guess is just the fact that his computer disconnects from the internet on a daily basis, and ocasionally he will complain of slower speeds. I just want to know if I am correct in assuming since the rest of us have no problems with the internet, at least until he tries to 'fix' it, that it is his computer.

Thanks in advance, and sorry again about the long explaination, I wasn't too sure what would be pertinent.

Thanks, I talked to my room mate and let him know to run HJT. I will have him post here if he does. Thanks again.
