Spyware or something else?

I'm not really sure what is going on anymore! My browser is slow as molasses these days and it seems nothing I do fixes it. I have repeatedly run Spybot, Adaware, and CWShredder and while it continues to find a few problems and continues to fix them the browser slowdown continues. I did my first hijackthis log file last night and got rid of a couple of things, but honestly, from what I've seen and read it doesn't look unusual <but what do I know!!>I'm not getting inundated with popups and my browser doesn't appear to have been hijacked, but again what do I know? When this first started happening about a week ago that did seem like the logical answer. However, I did get a weird message while on AOL last week that I was signed on to AIM at two different locations. That was bizarre because I don't use AIM AT ALL. I tried to contact AOL tech support about this but my browser locked up at that point I was so frustrated I shut down the computer and went to bed!

Any ideas on what the problem might be? Or should I just call the dreaded SBC tech support and see if it's a problem on their end? <like they'd ever admit it!>

Trojan or virus is possible, I assume you have a virus scanner. Scanning with a program like A2 in our anti virus section might help, or post your hijack this logfile for us to see.

Okay well there are a couple possibilities as to why you are having AOL IM you about being signed into two different places.

    1) Did your connection to AOL get lost, and then you signed right back on? Sometimes AOL doesn't have enough to "sign you off" so they still think you're online.

    2) Someone has your password.

To be on the safe side, change your passwords

About a month ago or so... I contacted AOL about the AOL system Msg, but they didn't get back to me.
