Has anybody tried this program. I was wondering if it would conflict with Spywareblaster or Spyware Guard, ETC.

Nope not tried it, actually not heard of it until you posted ;)

I shouldnt affect the likes of SpywareBlaster as it and others like it are non-resident scanners as SpywareBlaster just takes the labourious job of adding known malware infected sites to your browsers blocked URL list, it should not conflict with other on demand scanner, but it may well conflict with resident/real-time scanners in a similar way to having 2 Antivirus apps installed at the same time.

but to fully see if it conflicts you would have to install and see?

I’m not really sure how this Spyware Terminator program affects other similar programs like Spywareblaster or Spyware Guard. Generally, as a rule-of-thumb; whenever two programs run concurrently and provide the same exact "real-time" scanning functions there can be some problems and conflicts caused by this. You might want to check with the Spyware Terminator forum here to get more details regarding this question.

Spyware Terminator is actually a fairly new freeware program. I believe it was first released in September 2005. I tested it when it first became available from many freeware listing sites in December ’05. At that time, the program contained no spyware or adware as far as I could determine and it appeared to function very well; especially for a freeware program in this category. The full scan was very slow and used a lot of resources (memory) but if it did find 3 items that AdAware had apparently missed, so it was worth the download.

Since that time, I have noticed that the Spyware Terminator program has become very popular in several forums and review sites; including the notoriously finicky testers at the file forum beta news review website; where it currently has a 4.3 out of 5 rating.

Things to "Watch Out" for in the current version: The program currently includes the free antivirus ClamAV which is integrated into the real-time shield, the on-demand scan, and the update engine; which can be selected by preference. If you are running any other anti-virus program; I’d definitely suggest "deselecting" the ClamAV option; as I have heard that this can cause some conflicts when the ClamAV runs alongside other AV products.

About the only "negative" thing I can think of to say about this program is that unlike many other popular anti-spyware products, such as Spyware Doctor and Spy Sweeper, the Spyware Terminator program does not allow users to "selectively remove" items which are considered to be "threats."

In other words, it's an "all or nothing" removal. Either you remove all of the threatening registry keys, files and folders, or none at all. Spy Sweeper and Spyware Doctor, for example, let you pick and choose which ones to get rid of (or leave alone). Also, I noticed that the "threat information" appears to be rather limited. Many other spyware programs provide a thorough report of every item detected. Spyware Terminator does not.

Additional Notes: As I mentioned earlier; the developer Crawler LLC also sponsors their own small forum here. Additionally, Crawler LLC also runs Crawler.com which currently offers a whopping 5GB e-mail service that is also free. However, the 5GB offer is valid only for US, Canada and the United Kingdom residents. 2GB applicable for other locations.

    Good Luck!
