Spyware

I have a hijacked browser and "Spyware" warnings each time I click on internet explorer & can't reset the browser to Yahoo, my normal home page. The "Spyware" warning popups come in at least five different forms. Each access of IE may have a different form of the Spyware popup I have purchased, downloaded and run "ZeroSpyware" and purchased and installed Gateway's "Spy Sweeper" via a CD.

"ZeroSpyware" says I have no Spyware. "Spy Sweeper" found some suspect software which I deleted. Neither of these systems has corrected the problem.

Any tips/suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Try Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.com (i think). if not just google Ad-Aware.
Also, if you have an Anti-Virus program check the log carefully when its finished as they can't always delete every dodgy file. Some you have to get rid of manually.

I'VE SOLVED MY HIJACKED BROWSER & SPYWARE PROBLEM.

Per a tip from Gateway Tech Support, I downloaded a free "cwshredder" package. It restored my home page to normal after accessing IE. This also cleared the "Spyware" popup window problem. I'd previously been unable to
reset the browser to my desired (Yahoo) home page.

 

Go here and read this: http://www.majorgeeks.com/vb/showthread.php?t=25834 . It will help you a lot. I also recommend SpywareGuard: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3045.html . It helps block quite a bit of spyware from getting in. I haven't had a problem for months (hopefully, I haven't spoken too soon).
