SpywareBlaster: Current Version of database?

Would someone be so kind as to let me know if my SpywareBlaster program seems correct? I noticed a new version (4.2?) was/is available as of 4/10/09, and upon downloading it (multiple times), I now seem only to (still) have; "Version of database loaded: 3/24/09".

This doesn't seem correct to me.

I noticed in a search here that there have been some (potential?) compatibility issues between IE8 (which I do have installed on this PC, but don't use), SpywareBlaster and Spybot S&D. I just went ahead and switched-back to Windows Defender (from the SS&D Tea Timer) for my real-time Anti-Spy - to no avail on the SpywareBlaster update.

    Thanks in advance ...

It is correct. SpywareBlaster is not updated daily. Which is OK - given the way it works. There's an update function inside it. Click that for an extra check. The new version 4.2 is fully compatible with IE8. And it's a very fine program.

You'll probably be able to download a database update later today. It usually arrives on Mondays.

    Thank you all.

I have had the program for years (and feel very safe and comfortable with it - and recommend it highly), and have always found that it updates about every two weeks - "approximately".

@ oma: I first tried installing the new program (4.2) right over top of the old one (as I had done this before with no problems). When it did not take, I did a "clean" install (done to the best of my understanding). I uninstalled it (via Add/Remove), ran Ccleaner (including the registry scan), Defragged, restarted, and reinstalled. Is this the correct procedure? However, I did not know to "disable all protection" prior to uninstalling. I wonder what the odds are that this may have caused a problem/be the problem?

I'll check again later today to see if it updates, and will post back here with results - thanks again to all ...

When a new version of SpywareBlaster comes out, I always "disable all protection" prior to deleting it and install the new version. That has never caused a problem with me. I do what's recommended on their website. (as per their advice)

Thanks for the info oma. Seems this stuff is really a continuing, and ongoing, education ... with thorough, proper procedures to be strictly followed, and an awareness for the potential for compatibility issues leading the way.

    Thanks as always ...
