sql files needed when program not used?

    i once had sql 2000 on my XPpro, sp2,build 2600. got brave enough to remove all files to recycle bin. got scary message about my system not being able to operate without these files. i had created a restore point, but thought it might be a good idea to ask for advise. please advise, Many THX,swampdogz. :confused:

    I'm not really sure what you're asking. If you're asking if you need SQL then the answer is simple. No, of course you don't. When you startup it may give you some errors if you deleted it by hand rather then using the uninstaller, but that's only because it wasn't removed properly and it's trying to launch it during startup.

    It could also try to launch it at other times. You should really have used the uninstall option. Of coruse the error messages it gives are nothing to worry about. They are just annoying. The only thing that won't work because of them is SQL, and that's only because you deleted it

    Thank You for the quick reply & rescue. the only error statement/warning i have received since removing the SQL was when i got all program files in the recycle bin. with Restore Point, in place, i'll now delete the sql files i found in Search. Many Thanks. swampdogz.
