SQL server blocked, good or bad?

Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.60GHz
Speed: 1600 MHz
Memory: 504 MB RAM
Video: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express....
Hard Disk: 80gig
Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.0


I just installed McAfee personal firewall plus and it asked me if i want to allow or block "SQL Server Windows NT" sqlservr.exe
I said yes block it.

i am wondering should i leave it blocked?
what does it do?
I use this computer general use (includes checking email, useing microsoft office, playing warcraft 3) as well as editing info in a database (scale link pro) of grocery store related info.

also this is currently alowed full access, should i block it or do i need it for something, "SWL Server Service Manager" sqlmangr.exe

note: Sorry if this is already in print someplace but i did search this form as well as microsofts web site. granted i did not read everything on their web site but spent about 45 minutes looking for info and could find none. Thanks for help.

but that is why i ask. I don't know what it is really.

is it needed in the background for anything?

for instance: "svchost.exe", I have no clue what exactly this does but i know i need to let it be.

so, while i currently don't go and open "Microsoft SQL Server Suite", i don't know if blocking SQL Server Windows NT is the best course of action. So i am asking for basic info about what it is from anyone who might know.
