Alright recently I opened my computer up to clean the fans, and upon putting it back together, my motherboard shorted out someplace and stopped working. So i Bought a new motherboard, and I also replaced a BAD hard drive that had corrupt sectors.

Now I installed the new motherboard, and hard drive, and set everything up in the Bios, everything is working fine until I try to play an online 2d game that ive always been playing. The game is called Continuum for your refrence.

My computer specs are as follows.
    32bit 3.06ghz, 533FSB Intel processor.
    512 DDR ram at 400mhz
128mb ATI radeon all in wonder gfx card.
    250 gig, Seaggate Harddrive standard.
    My motherboard is a P4P800 - E Deluxe.
    56K Modem

This online Game i play usually connects me with a 200ms Ping. And I usually play the game with no lag problems despite my 56k Modem. Recently I try to connect to play, And it enters the game, and disconnects me right away. Or it goes to the loading screen and doesnt enter the game at all.

Now if i manage to enter the game, my ping is extremley high, around 43,000ms, or 22,000ms. Here is a screenshot to verify.

Now I traced my connection to the zone and I dont see any problems, and according to the zone moderators they dont see problems either.

So now I can BARLEY enter the game, like .001% chance it lets me in, and when it does i have 43,000 ms. HOWEVER. I discovered something extremley odd. If I run my SNES EMULATOR in the background, And i pause the emulator, my CPU usage jumps from 1% to 60% WHEN my cpu usage is at 60% I CAN SUDDENLY CONNECT to the online game at all times, i mean from 0 TIMES, to all times. And I can be inside the game, but my ping is still bad. Varieing between the bottom.

    PING Current:220 ms Average:1534 ms Low:200 ms High:6700 ms

    PING Current:3520 ms Average:2922 ms Low:220 ms High:6700 ms

Now I decide to see into this more, and i opened my emulator, approximatley 4 firefox browsers, my ati graphics card console, real player while its playing, MY asus monitoring program, and my CPU usage hit 100% Then my asus monitoring program started to record my cpu temperature, going from 40 degrees celcius, all the way to 60 degrees, thats when i closed everything because i didnt want the chip to melt. My fan runs at 1700rpm on average. And the fan didnt pick up speed while my chip was becoming a hot desert.

No clue if this has anything to do with an online game, but one things for sure, running my emulator in pause mode in the background 100% for sure allows me to connect to the online game. Which is way wrong.

Please advize me what to do, or how to resolve this issue. NO ITS not malware, or spyware or viruses. Infact its pretty annoying how i always have a hardware or software problem and you all tell me to check for that =/ no offence, but i check everday, my computer is 100% secure with the latest updates from microsoft, a firewall, and updated antivirus, popupblocker, and secure browser. And ad aware to detect spyware. CC-cleaner to clean files.

Hope you can help, thank you.

Look i dont appreciate that my thread was moved to another section of the forum when i specifically put it in HARDWARE for a reason. On top of that its been more than two weeks and no one in NETWORKING has a clue as to how to help me. THIS is a HARDWARE problem. So id greatly appreciate it if its moved to the proper forum, and whoever moves it, to tell people there NOT to move it back.

Its happens that its not just my SUBSPACE/CONTINUUM game thats affected but any online game i attempt to play doesnt work! IT EITHER wont connect, or the lag is so EXTREME, i cant play. But when i put my SNES emulator in thebackground, and my CPU usage hits 60% suddenly all games work without lag, or connection problems. DEFINATLY,. hardware issue. My graphics card or my cpu is messed up, or maybe even my modem, but something is amiss.

So please move my thread to HARDWARE since no one could help me here. Thanks.

Looks like MSN and even my webbrowser wont work. Unless the SNES emulator are running in the background with cpu usage at 60% basically anything that has to do with the internet is slow or wont connect unless the emulator is running, and its not the emulator, its anything that bring my CPU usage high enough. Ill get the exact error message from my browser, and the exact message that MSN troubleshoot gives me.

MSN says. We were unable to sign you into MSN Messenger, possible because of a problem with the service or with your internet connection. Please make sure that you are connected to the internet.

    Error 81000306

Trouble shoot told me Out of IP, Default gateway, Ies offline setting, hosts file, dns, proxy server, and key ports, wirless. That my DNS was bad. and something else. Saying to check if i had a firewall blocking it. But i dont,. Windows firewall allows everything. And if it was a firewall, why the hell would an emulator progrm affect the firewall in a way that it allows me to do everything?

But now it says they are all okay. Yet it still wont connect to msn unless the SNES emulator runs in the background. I dont think this is a ISP problem or anything like that, since i traced my ping to the game and it showed ZERO problems. It has to be hardware.. because this doesnt make sense, i never ever heard of this before in my life.
