I'm considering taking the plunge. Is now good or should I wait? What should I avoid? All recommendations appreciated.

They are wicked fast. I don't have a 'real' SSD drive, I got one of the OCZ Hybrid SSD and normal drive things. I can tell some speed improvement. Very nice to have a full speed laptop drive in a desktop space wise, but no way to mount it. Yeah, I could buy/rig a mount for it, but I am cheap and lazy, and it works just fine resting on the cage. ;)

The full SSD drives are sweet. Like anything computer related, they will get faster, have more capacity, and get cheaper over time.

I like my SSD but it's small(40GB) for the price, yes it's fast to boot from and has a 1M MTBF rating as opposed to100K MTBF for standard drives. Programs will load faster but unless one has humongous files to save, you won't notice the difference. I won't be buying one for my new Sandy Bridge machine anytime soon.
