ssh possible break-in attempt

First, I'm not sure this is even the correct forum for this problem but here goes.

I have a Windows 2003 Server OS running on one of our servers. I setup a secure ftp server for a client to, well, securely ftp files to the server. Reviewing the Application Log in Event Viewer, I notice repeated attempts from various IPs to hack into the system via the SSH Login. Fortunately, I have the login name and password secure enough that it has yet to be breached, at least as far as I can tell.

I've done some searching on the web and have found a plethora of others having the same problem but all have been on Linux systems. I haven't found any answers yet on a Windows based system.

I have current OS security updates installed, a good virus and malware checker running, and the SFTP Server Software up to date. The problem isn't so much a security breach problem but more of a denial of service concern.

Others with this problem are using different SFTP Server software and it seems to be related more to a system running any SSH Software.

I know this is a bit wordy but any insight/advice would be appreciated.

I don't know if the malware experts here on Majorgeeks can help with servers also but it can hurt to ask.
