stalker problems

hi, new here and not great with computers but looking for some help. just got s.t.a.l.k.e.r, played it fine for a week, downloaded the patch and next thing i know my c: is corrupt. completely shagged and had to re-install windows and all my stuff. installed stalker again but during installation got a 'c: is corrupt' error message plus some stuff about direct x having problems. basically, comp is messed up again and im having to reinstall all my stuff for 2nd time in 6 hours.

anyone else had problems with stalker? looked thru a load of threads and cant see anyone with this kind of problem. find it hard to believe that the game could ruin my c drive but its the only thing ive used this comp for and but times its gone, stalkers been running/installing.

any ideas?

my comp is about mid table in the specs department for the game and it was running fine before the first crash. only other thing ive done on my pc apart from stalker was increase the paging file size to get it to work, wouldnt be that would it?

any help much appreciated guys, im lost!

I've got STALKER and had no problems what so ever.

Did you use old saved game files with your patched STALKER? I know that can cause some issues. But I didn't think that the issues you listed are part of the game.

Unless I miss my guess, you had much more serious problems than you knew and STALKER just made them come to the forefront.
