standby computer problem

When I put my computer into standby, it comes out after 15 to 30 minutes. I have no spyware on my computer, ran ccleaner, etc. Its been like this for awhile now. I wondering if something is scanning in the background and waking the computer. Usually my floppy drive makes a sound like it is being accessed when the computer comes out of sleep. Does anyone know how I can fix this? Curious of what people's experiences can be.

Are you by chance using a "Optical Mouse", sometimes just walking across the room will vibrate the mouse enough to cause the computer to come out of "Stand By". Hope that Helps and Welcome to Major Geeks

 

turn your router off or pull the LAN plug, so your computer isn't connected to the internet anymore.

if it still happens or not u know if it is either because of ur computer or someone hacking in it

 

Your BIOS may have the ability to wake up your PC after a set period. This may have been activated somehow?

 

thanks for all your replies. I have it set to where the mouse can't wake the computer. I'm not going to disconnect my router because that would be a hassle for the other computers and xbox live that is connected to it. I haven't activated anything in the bios. I'm wondering if it could be something related to new hp software or hp hardware. I've ended a couple hp related processes which doesn't help all the time. I'll keep trying that and let you know if it helps.
