Okay really stupid question probably - but you know how you go to start/run to do things? Well when I click on start, there IS no RUN. I know it is supposed to be under search. Where did it go? HELP!

It can be toggled on and off the start menu by doing the following:

    1. Right-click the Start menu
    2. Select 'Properties'
    3. On the 'Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' dialog, select the 'Start Menu' tab
    4. Press the active 'Customize' button
    5. On the 'Customize Start Menu' dialog, select the 'Advanced' tab
    6. Under 'Start Menu Items' scroll down and ensure that 'Run Command' is checked.
    7. Apply your settings.

If this does not get you a run command, you have a deeper issue, and we will need to troubleshoot further. As a workaround, you may be able to get the 'Run' dialog to appear by pressing windows key and r.

Which Windows version, if Vista, you dont have it listed by default, just type Run in the start search box.

If XP then use this http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm navigate to line 57 column B and use the Restore Run Command reg file

    Thanks Halo!
I never consider Vista in my replies! This will work, as will the windows key + r shortcut.

Also, double-clicking the .reg is probably easier than navigating through the GUI as I have posted.

Good stuff callmekyle, glad one option worked, please do tell us which one?

In Vista you can add the RUN command to the Start menu, just by right clicking the start menu button and choosing Properties > Customise and scroll down to Run Command and tick/check the box.

I know Mada, with so many OSes its hard to work out which one is used... so as we have do, cover all bases.

    Gotcha,

If you having other problem, then start a new thread on that issue and describe it as best as possible, with any steps to recreate the issue and what you have already tried and no doubt we maybe able to help you.
