Gentlemen, I call on you again.
I have been having trouble with windows lately and keep losing the sound.
If I immediately go into a program that requires sound, I have it. If I go into the same program “after” I cancel out the on screen messages (attached), I lose it!
Windows also will not accept latest updates!
What gives? I am not a computer guru but I know I haven’t downloaded anything that could harm my system. Someone told me that Windows is having some problems with this. Is that true? Am I doing something wrong?
    I have XP Pro.
Any other info I may provide?

In the top box, CLICK where it says if you want to see what will be sent to microsoft, click here.

Copy the message to atext file and post it in the thread.
It should identify the offending file.

sjfperformance doesn't have Realtek audio... it's CMI (CMedia 8738) which I've found to be a stable audio chipset. More so than RealTek imho. I've never had too many problems with it. Anyway- it sounds to me like that a process or something isn't loading right away, and after it loads, the sound cuts out. It could be a driver/process conflict. Try uninstalling the sound driver from Add/Remove Programs (if listed) and remove the audio controller from the device manager, reboot, and cancel the hardware wizard. Now, reload the driver from its original source (the driver CD or download it from this link: http://www.cmedia.com.tw/?q=en/driver). Reboot and (hopefully) all will be well.... if this doesn't work, let us know, and more help will be on the way.

First the good news - Dave is correct you do not have any Realtek audio issues. However I would recommend you do not do anyhting to the audios until after solving the real problem.

Now the bad news - Look at the second picture in your post. The second line, appcompat.txt is the file that would be sent to Microsoft and is of no consequence.
The first file svchost.exe.mdnp is the _____ in the woodpile. This is the blaster worm, MSBLAST. Hold it there this does not mean you now have it.

First run a search for this file, if you do not find it breath a sigh of relief.
If you do it's off the the malware forum I'm afraid.
If you don't find it then run MSCONFIG
    start>run>typein
    msconfig

Look at the start tab and see if you can identify anything nefarious running, you will see the microsoft error message sender, (the name escapes me at the moment). You can stop it to test, then kill it off permanently in the registry

    HKLM/software/microsoft/windows/curentversion/run.

Alternatively you can create a text file and post it here.

Copy the text between the lines
    ------------------------------------------------
    %SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe /c %windir%\system32\tasklist.exe /svc >"%USERPROFILE%"\Desktop\Tasklist.txt
    -----------------------------------------------

    then
    Start-Run
    type
    CMD
    hit enter

Now rt click and paste the above and hit enter

There will apear on your desktop a file Tasklist.txt

Post this file as a MG insert (preferable) or copy and paste it into a post.
