start up issue, please help

when i start up my laptop it does some type of registry scan then it goes to installing updates 3 of 3 then it comes up and says update not configured correctly converting back to previous configuration. This whole process takes almost 10 min. Is there a way I can stop the registry scan and delete this up date that is not installing right?

acer laptop aspire 5516
amd athlon tf-20 1.60 ghz
2gb ram
32 bit operating systyem

 

If you are able to choose a restore point which predates the failed update that should fix it.

 

i did a restore and it started doing this after the restore. I had to restore because i had something wrong. When id do a search i would get sent to the same page no matter what i looked at. So I restored and fixed that but now this. I just got this laptop saturday so only 3 days old.

 

Disappointing for you I know, but as it's new I wouldn't be tempted to mess about with it, I'd take it back.

I would either be in or outside the shop waiting for it to open right now, with reciept in hand, and i would be demanding a new rig or a full refund!
[not sure what country your in though, and rules/reg's and laws vary dramatically]
