I am having issues with my Dell Desktop PC. When it starts, I dont see any icons in my desktop and even the "start" button on the buttom left corner is missing. I also get this message, "During the scan of files at system startup, potential errors in the system registry were found. p-07-0100 1qrl: if server 0xf0024 NT_Kernel error 1256 KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_Handled" ... please someone help get my pc to start normally ! :cry

Sounds like something has corrupted your registry all right. Assuming you are using some version of XP, the link below will take you to a Microsoft help document which deals with recovering from a corrupted registry that will not allow XP to boot. It does not list your exact error message, but I have used the procedures twice to restore a damaged registry. Time consuming, but it does work.

If not using XP, which OS are you using?
