Right after logging in to system with a password, the screen goes blue with a bunch of white vertical lines. It then reboots and the only way to start it is in safe mode. Any ideas as to what is wrong or how to fix. I'm using Windows Vista and have not installed any new hardware or software lately.

This would typically be a driver issue. So I have moved your thread to the software forum for further assistance.

I did both of those. When I disable auto startup I don't even get the user log-in screen. It goes right to the blue screen. There are no error messages to read. It's just the blue screen with lines and lines of vertical white lines. I can run in safe mode. In normal mode it will start up about every 6th of 7th time. The only thing different is I switched from Trend Security to the free McAfee download from Comcast. I did this on all my laptops and haven't had a problem with the others. I'm running Vista with Outlook email.
