    Hi!
    Got another question for yas, bf of a friend, is having problems starting up his computer.

    Quote;
    "His computer used to start up normally, but now he has to "push F1 to continue" How does he skip that and go right to windows?"

    Thanks again for your help!

    That error message which would appear before Windows starts generally means a BIOS problem of some sort. So like Bold Eagle says the more details you give us the easier the problem is to solve. ;)

    Thanks for your patience everyone! I received an e-mail from her with more details. I'll use copy and paste to post her boyfriends responce.........

    His Operating system is Windows XP. Processor is an AMD64V - 3000+, 512 MB RAM Mainboard is an ATI Radeon RS480 Hard Disk - WD 80G8M Onboard Video Sound LAN Card He has MSI Live Eye and MSI Digicell, MSI Live Update 3, MSI Live Monitor

    When he turns his computer on, it goes to the display screen of MSI, 8 Extreme Logo, etc.. then it goes to the serial screen with all the numbers on it and stops there. At the bottom it simply says, Push F1 to continue or DEL for setup (not those exact words, but something along those lines)

    One of the things is says on the screen is floppy disk fail, but he doesn't have a floppy disk drive,..

    There's no error numbers.

    At one time he had to redo a utility and disk drive setup. Could this be a problem?

    Thanks!

    Okay the best suggestion is he goes to MSIs' website and downloads the owners manual or technical guide for his motherboard. There are some settings in his BIOS which he needs to change.

    At the very first startup screen tap delete and this will take him to his BIOS.

    In the "Standard CMOS Features" he will see Drive A & B [None] is the option he needs here (stops his sys from "looking" for a non-existant floppy drive.

    In the next section "Advanced BIOS Features" he can switch of the "Full Screen Logo [Disable] if he wants but he needs to goto "Boot Sequnce" here he will be given the option of what device he wants the comp to boot from first (should be HDD-0, 2nd Boot Device [CD Rom] and 3rd Boot Device [None] if he has no other HDD,CD RW etc and the final option is "Boot Other Device" for USBs' important to ENABLE in case of emergency. As for the F1 key i'm not sure but it will be an option within his BIOS settings. Some links on BIOS:

    It doesn't seem to be a serious problem and he should be able to easily sort it. BIOS is good to understand and quite important (Basic Input Output System) and basically it sets up the structure of of how your system will operate. Just cut n paste and mail to him, hope it sorts it.

    Another point is there will be options to "SEEK FLOPPY [DISABLE] and SWAP FLOPPY [DISABLE]

    I think the F1 will be his "Quick Boot Option" (a quick but very very average memory scan) I have mine [disabled] because I use a lot more thorough software for this.
