start up processes

the other day i checked the purpose of all the processes that start up and stay active during a pc session and found that some of them dont need to be started at all.

These are the ones that usually run on mine:

Taskmgr.exe
Dkservice.exe
Spysweeper.exe
Em_exec.exe
Avgupsvc.exe
Ctfmon.exe
Bpcable.exe
Avgcc.exe
Msnappau.exe
Mixer.exe
Avgamsvr.exe
Alg.exe
Explorer.exe
Csrss.exe
Locator.exe
Lsass.exe
Spoolsv.exe
Svchost.exe
Wdfmgr.exe
Winlogon.exe
Winstylerthemesvc.exe

The ones in bold arent necessary to load at startup but ure usual programs like TuneUp Utilities and Spysweeper dont give you the option to stop them from loading at start up. Does anyone know how I could get around this?

 

Its not processes that load at startup that you should be looking at its programs. You should decide which programs you need to run when you fire up the box and delete from startup those programs you do not need. For my part the only things I let load are my diary, and an AV program when Xp fires up. After that I select the programs I will run taking care to ensure that i fire up a firewall if and when i go on the Net. Your circumstances will differ from mine but i hope you get my drift.
To see what programs are loading at startup go to Start : Run and type in the box that opens up "msconfig" (without the quotes). Select the startup tab and see what you want to start. Take the ticks out of those you don't want

Actually, you can go to Blackviper.com and look at all the processes that may or may not be needed.
And, download a startup manager, such as Startup Inspector for Windows and turn on only those programs you want running continuously, such as antivirus. Most things do not need to be running until you actually use them, as you know.
