    hi there,

so i'm trying to determine if i can uncheck some of my programs, like
msmsgs, syntplpr, syntpenh, eabconfg.cpl, word perfect office 1215, swg, net-it launcher, logitech hardware abstraction layer, ituneshelper, isusscheduler, isuspm startup, cpqset, applesyncnotifier, adobereaderspeedlauncher

these would all be somewhere else too , right? just not on the startup.

thanks in advance, i'm ready to delete as you call it for me.

The only programs I have in start-up are the firewall and anti virus . All others are started when needed. Depends on what you use.

Do you have Ccleaner installed? If so go to tools > and start up

Take a screenshot of what shows there for us and post it in your next reply.

Do not use CCleaner to control the start ups, and definately do not make use of MSCONFIG in this way either... just to do the screengrab with Ccleaner

. You would be better off advised using a start up manager such as StartUpCPL to manage them.

make sure you're on the page you need for start up in Ccleaner and dont have any other windows covering it > hit the PrtSc button > go to paint (start > all progs > accesories > paint) go to edit > then paste once in paint itself. then File > Save as > (save it as a PNG using the drop down box) and save screengrab to desktop for easy retrieval

I personally like using WinPatrol for the Startup and other functions.

I would keep Defender, SuperAntiSpyware, the Synaptics and Logitech stuff (hardware related), and that's about it. You might want to keep the HPQ entries depending on if you use those functions (primarily the Quick Launch Buttons). I don't use AVG antivirus on my home PC, but it looks like you're using an older version (the screenshot shows Grisoft\AVG7 in startup). AVG is now at version 8.5, but it could be the naming structure in 8.5 is the same as in version 7... like I said, I don't use it so I can't check. For best results, do NOT uninstall the actual programs; just remove them from the start up and see if the PC runs how you want and that no functionality is missed. If it all seems OK after a few days, then go ahead and remove the programs, but do NOT uninstall any drivers (the Logitech, Synaptics, and HPQ stuff may be parts of the drivers).
