    Here is the deal.

    Received a computer from dell, i placed the windows xp disc in, told it to delete the partitions that come from the factor, I reinstall windows xp. Now when you start the computer up it asks you which OS do you want to boot up. Then there are two windows xp options. I need to delete one of them. Any clues on how I can do this?

    You need to edit the boot.ini file.

    It should say:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=15
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

    Replace the word "Professional" with "Home" if you have XP Home edition.

    Take a Backup of the original Boot.ini file first just in case things go awry.
