start up

    need help, i have a gateway pc with vista home premium. Today when i turn on my pc, the system went to start up repair, it has been trying to fix the problem but no dice. do i need to get a recovery dick or is there something else i could do. the last down load was vista service pack from micro soft updates. please help.
