I have a corrupted config file in c:\windows\system32 on my DELL machine and I can't boot up even in safe mode. I also can't figure out how to configure it to boot up from the CD-Rom that contains my XP Install. Any ideas ?

When you startup ..there will be a brief message indicating which f key to hit to go into your bios ..often f2 or f10 ...then you can set it to boot order.

As TimW says, Also Start up to get into Bios could also be the 'del'ete button.
We are assuming that you know to look at the top line in the Bios for the 'boot' tab, and set first boot item to cdrom - usually by holding over the first boot item, that is possibly set to floppy, pressing page up/down button on your keyboard to hard drive (usually hard drive 0). press enter to change it to cdrom, and then press F10, PRESS Y, PRESS O.K/OR, ENTER , WITH THE CD IN THE CDROM, The computer will restart and read off your cdrom
