I have a recurring problem with spyware and adware in spite of running several programs I have downloaded from this site. My challenge though is in not being able to start the laptop in the Safe mode. I got this notebook with Win 2000 Professional from my prior employer and never got it reconfigured - I believe it has an administrator setup.

Is it possible to start in the Safe mode without the administrator login?

Is there a way to transfer the notebook from being administrator controlled to user controlled? How would I do it (without doing anything illegal - I own the computer now, in any case)?

Here's the logfile I got when I ran AboutBuster last night. The About:Blank home page hijacks my MSN home page even after I run Adaware, AboutBuster, BHODemon, Spybot S&D, CCleaner, etc.

If the PC is yours, check the below out and use it to make yourself either a bootable CD or floppy disk and then use it to blank out the Administrator password. Don't change it to something else, blank it out. Then later you can add a password when you boot as administrator. You may need to use my fiix for Only the Best hijacks.
